You are invited to participate in groups where you can offer your gifts and that serve your needs.  Whether it is in decision making groups that guide the life of the church, groups that support our worship or in some other way, there is a place for you.

If you cannot find the group that seems to need your talents or serves your needs please let us know so we can help you find what you need.

 
Prayer Chain
The members of this group pray regularly for the needs of people that you and others bring to their attention.  The names of those that we pray for are held in confidence.  We meet on a regular basis to support each other in this commitment to prayer and to review the situation of those for whom we pray. Prayer is a powerful action that can bring great hope and peace.  We know that prayer makes a difference, offering support and strength to those who we pray for and those who surround them. The Book Bunch
Looking for some reading through this fall and winter?  Have a look at the list of books for the coming year and plan to join us for the discussions.   Have a look at the  books for 2011-2012 year. Whether you are an avid reader or would struggle to find time to read one selection each month, this group will give you an opportunity to spend an interesting evening with others from St. Matthews and Donwood churches. Stitch and Pray
For those that like to make things or to learn how: We are a group of women who get together (when time permits) to knit and pray. We have just finished over 100 hats for Brian Nichols to take to Howard Hospital in Zimbabwe and are looking for new projects. We have lots of patterns as well as yarn that has been donated. United Church Women
All women are invited to join this fun and dedicated group.   We meet monthly at the church for discussions, prayer, guest speakers, and a social time.   Our activities include supporting the congregation and other helping groups by raising funds through various fundraising events and services. Choir
The Donwood choir is an enthusiastic group of people who love to sing, have fun and, most of all, be an integral part of worship at Donwood.  Our music is based on the traditional, but very much embraces the contemporary, gospel and has even ventured into jazz.  
With two major cantatas, two Anniversary services (ours and our sister church St. Matthews), an ecumenical service during the church year, as well as our Sunday to Sunday celebration of the church seasons, we have a busy shedule.
Our choir practices on Thursdays at 7:00 pm are jam packed with learning, camaraderie and singing with great joy. Join us on Thursdays if you're looking for a place to sing, we'd love to hear your voice. Contact musicdirector@donwoodchurch.ca for more information.

Stewards
The Stewards Committee oversee building maintenance and fund raising activities, and deal with all  of the financial obligations of the church. They review reports from the treasurer, direct payments and maintain written minutes to document motions records of their work and expenditures.

Session
This group is elected to oversee the spiritual interests of the congregation. Seven members plus the Minister keep tabs on matters such as baptisms, weddings, funerals, communion, memberships, Sunday kids, and the worship service.

Members usually serve a three-year term and generally meet once a month from September to June. Currently we meet on the second Wednesday of the month, in the afternoon; however meeting time can be flexible.  Session is a wonderfully rewarding way to serve the congregation.
